This list of writerly events does not claim to be comprehensive; it represents those events that we know of and/or have participated in.
New River Valley Voices: This semi-annual juried event was founded by local writers in 2012. They accept prose and poetry; winners are expected to attend and, ideally, read their pieces at a Sunday afternoon celebration, open to the public, typically held in the Community Room of the Blacksburg Public Library. Winners are given the opportunity to prepare their presentation with a Virginia Tech Drama Professor. Submissions are currently closed for the spring reading; check their Facebook page for submission details. Next reading celebration is Sunday, April 23 2017.
New River Writers Project: Local writers gather for food, camaraderie and friendly critiques the second Tuesday of each month, 7 PM in Christiansburg. See their FB page for meeting location. Open to all writers. For more info, contact Donna Banks: firstname.lastname@example.org
