This list of writerly events does not claim to be comprehensive; it represents those events that we know of and/or have participated in.

New River Valley Voices: This semi-annual juried event was founded by local writers in 2012. They accept prose and poetry; winners are expected to attend and, ideally, read their pieces at a Sunday afternoon celebration, open to the public, typically held in the Community Room of the Blacksburg Public Library. Winners are given the opportunity to prepare their presentation with a Virginia Tech Drama Professor. Submissions are currently closed for the spring reading; check their Facebook page for submission details. Next reading celebration is Sunday, April 23 2017.

New River Writers ProjectLocal writers gather for food, camaraderie and friendly critiques the second Tuesday of each month, 7 PM in Christiansburg. See their FB page for meeting location. Open to all writers. For more info, contact Donna Banks: donnabicycle@hotmail.com
